Cafe Berlin was born in 1995, the heart's child of Aki von Mende, a local German-American restauranteur. Originally meant to simply fulfill a deep need within the downtown market for the rich, traditional German cuisine, Aki saw the restaurant rise to become a staple and a favorite on the list of Denverites and Coloradans across the board. Thanks to the dedication of Aki and others such as Sandra Boog and Marlene Garrett, traditional German food has found a permanent home in Denver.
