O'Hara's Food & Spirits is a classic neighborhood grille located in the heart of Newton Highlands at 1185 Walnut Street.. The restaurant has been a focal point of the Highlands since it opened in 1985. O'Hara's features a warm and welcoming atmosphere accented by dark wood, a sprawling horseshoe bar, and gracious paned windows that overlook Walnut Street. The restaurant is a gathering spot for young and old, families and children. This is a place where people know each other because they are regulars. In fact, some think of O'Hara's as their second kitchen. And that's exactly the way John O'Hara planned it when he founded the restaurant with his father and brother, Curt and Karl and his sister, Molly. Today, you can find O'Hara family members greeting patrons, waiting on tables and tending bar. O'Hara's is about food - good American and Italian cuisine - at reasonable prices. Along with a regular menu there are dinner specials and daily luncheon specials. Fare includes beef, seafood, chicken, pasta, pizzas and calzones. The regular menu features appetizers (try O'Hara's boneless buffalo wings), salads, soups, five outstanding burgers, and hot and cold sandwiches. There's even a famous chicken pot pie served in a freshly baked loaf of bread. Everything on the menu can be ordered as take out. So enjoy!
