Ladies, if you want to do something really special for boyfriend, father, brother or favorite guy pal, take him to Texas de Brazil for dinner. It is something that he will remember and thank you for over and over again. If you have never visited this Brazilian Churrascaria Steakhouse, guys you are in for quite a treat.
The concept is simple. You help yourself to an enormous salad bar, which includes more than 50 items, from sushi selections, and gourmet items such as imported hearts of palm and marinated Portobello mushrooms to hot items such as Brazilian black beans and Lobster Bisque soup.
At your table you are served assorted sides such as fried bananas prepared with a bit of cinnamon and sugar, garlic mashed potatoes and some really yummy cheese bread. But the best is yet to come. They place a coaster on your table. One side is red (as in STOP) and the other side is green (as in GO). This is important to note because while you are working your way through the marvelous offerings from the salad bar, the first of a series of gaucho-clad servers begins to approach your table with huge skewers of roasted and grilled meats. As long as the green side of your coaster is up, your all-you-can-eat experience is will continue, as a troop of Carvers (they are actually called Gauchos) roam through the restaurant offering you choice cuts of beef, chicken, lamb, pork and sausage which have been slowly roasted and grilled over an open flame. . My favorite cuts are the Chicken Breast wrapped in Bacon, seasoned Flank Steak, Garlic Picanha, Parmesan Pork, Filet Mignon and the house specialty, Picanha-top sirloin.
The Texas de Brazil experience is not complete without the “Caipirinha”, their signature drink, which taste like a Brazilian Mojito. They are delicious! Or if you prefer wine, they have their own private label wines from Portugal available in a Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Chardonnay. Then you can cap off the evening with an after-dinner a hand-rolled cigar. If that doesn't elict tears of joy from the man in your life, then I don't know what will.
The first time I dined at Texas de Brazil with one of my best guy friends, I got the male perspective of this all you can eat “meat fest”. We went through the salad bar, where I proceeded to fill my plate with greens and other vegetables. He selected a few slices of tomato and Buffalo Mozzarella and looked at the large salad filling my plate and said "amateur".
Me: What, don't you like salad?
Him: Yes, but I need to leave room for the MEAT!
And that is why men love this restaurant. This is the place where they can indulge themselves and their love of meat.
The Dallas uptown location features 2 private rooms for groups from 10 to 24 guests and a semi-private area for groups up to 100. Texas de Brazil is located at 2727 Cedar Springs Rd.
