Honey Tangerine Sidecar by The Liquid Chef PDF Print E-mail
This is a variation of the original cocktail that was created in the early twenties. "This cocktail is very popular in France. It was first introduced in London by MacGarry, the celebrated bar-tender of Buck's Club." Embury credits the invention of the drink to an American Army captain in Paris during World War I "and named after the motorcycle sidecar in which the good captain was driven to and from the little bistro where the drink was born and christened". Hence this drink was named and was named at Harry’s Bar in Paris.

Since it is winter in Dallas, I thought we would try a delightful change in this predecessor to the modern day lemon drop and use honey tangerines and squeeze about 1.0oz of fresh juice for this drink the first note being a Calvados 2.0oz which is a type of brandy used in the classic drink, and add 1.0oz of the classic orange liquor Cointreau as the second note of this drink plus 1 smidgen of zip code honey found here in Dallas. The only garnish required for this cocktail on the stem is a sugar rim. I suggest that it is stirred as not to bruise the qualities of the spirits combined with juice. This makes a great starter to any evening and is full of vitamin C.

Cheers,

The Liquid Chef

Over the past 14 years, Caterina Miltenberger has forged a reputation as one of Dallas’ most well known mixologists, captivating audiences with her refined knowledge of spirits and trend setting cocktails. Cat’s zeal began at a very early age. An East Dallasite, she grew up in the Lakewood area.
